• Advertisement IDs: Anonymous advertising identifiers to support limited ad-related features.

How we use your information

We use your data to:

• Provide and improve the GreaseFit app experience
• Personalize fitness and nutrition recommendations based on your logged activity and dietary preferences
• Allow users to optionally share recipes, ingredients, and nutritional data to contribute to our shared food and health knowledge base
• Communicate with you regarding updates or support
• Ensure the security and functionality of the app

Your individual food entries (i.e., what you personally eat) are treated as private and are not shared with other users.

Aggregated or anonymized recipe and ingredient data may be used to improve the platform and support shared community features.

Our app uses AdMob (Google) to serve ads, which may collect and share device identifiers (such as the advertising ID) for ad personalization and performance measurement. You can opt out of personalized ads through your device or app settings.

Legal basis for processing

We process your personal data only when we have a legal basis to do so. This may include:

• Your explicit consent (e.g., when you agree to data collection for analytics)
• To fulfill our contract with you (e.g., providing access to your account and app features)
• Our legitimate interest in improving, securing, and analyzing the app
• Compliance with legal obligations (e.g., responding to lawful requests from authorities)

We may use anonymous tracking technologies like Firebase Analytics to better understand app usage patterns. These do not identify you personally and are used solely to improve user experience and app performance.

We may share your data with trusted third-party service providers who assist us in operating, analyzing, or improving the app. These partners are bound by strict data protection and confidentiality agreements and are only permitted to use your information for the purposes we specify. We take your privacy and data security seriously. All communication between your device and our servers is encrypted using HTTPS (TLS). Authentication is handled using JSON Web Tokens (JWT) with short expiration times (less than 60 minutes). We implement strict access controls, regularly monitor our systems for vulnerabilities, and follow security best practices. Access to personal data is limited to a small group of trained personnel. While we strive to protect your data, no method of electronic transmission or storage is completely secure.

Your choices and rights

You have control over your personal data. Through the app settings, you can manage your preferences, update or correct your information, and choose what data you share. Right to erasure

To delete your account, send us a request to be forgotten to support@greasefit.com. We will comply without undue delay and within 28 days of the initial request. This period can be extended by up to two additional months if the request is complex or if multiple requests have been made. Note that deletion requests are irreversible.

Data storage and transfers

Your personal data is stored securely on servers located in Amsterdam, Netherlands, managed by DigitalOcean. We use third-party services such as Firebase Crashlytics and Firebase Analytics to monitor app performance. These services may process data outside the EU, but appropriate safeguards (e.g., Standard Contractual Clauses) are in place.

Changes to this privacy policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we make significant changes, we will notify you through the app, by email, or other appropriate means.

Children’s privacy

GreaseFit is not intended for children under the age of 16, and this app does not knowingly collect personal information from children under 16. If you believe we have unintentionally collected such data, please contact us so we can delete it.
